Movies I'm Tracking for 2026

18 days ago by Vaclav Cevela

From Avengers: Doomsday to obscure wildcards β€” here are the 2026 movies on my radar and why I track them on my own database.

I run a movie database. It pulls in data, lets me track what's coming, and honestly β€” it's my excuse to browse upcoming movies instead of doing actual work. Here's what caught my eye for 2026.

The Big One: Avengers: Doomsday

Let's get the obvious out of the way. Avengers: Doomsday is happening. Doctor Doom vs. everyone β€” Avengers, X-Men, Fantastic Four, Thunderbolts, Wakandans. The plot is still TBA which somehow makes it more exciting. I'll believe the hype when I see it, but yeah, this is the one everyone will be watching.

Super Troopers 3: Winter Soldiers

Super Troopers 3 is the kind of sequel nobody asked for but I'm here for anyway. The first one is a cult classic. The second one was... fine. Third time's the charm? The subtitle "Winter Soldiers" suggests snow, cold, and probably the same jokes β€” which is exactly what I want from a Super Troopers movie.

Scary Movie Is Back

Yes, Scary Movie is getting another round. The horror-parody genre has been dead for a while, and with how many horror films came out in the last few years, there's plenty of material. Could be terrible. Could be hilarious. Either way, I'm watching it.

The Wildcards

These are the ones with barely any info yet, but their titles alone got me curious:

  • Pressure β€” One-word titles usually mean either a tight thriller or a pretentious mess. I'm betting on thriller.
  • How to Rob a Bank β€” The title tells you everything. Heist movies are comfort food.
  • Le FantΓ΄me de l'OpΓ©ra β€” Another Phantom of the Opera adaptation. The story keeps coming back, like a composer who can't stop writing the same symphony.
  • Kommunist β€” No clue what this is about yet, but the name is intriguing.

Why I Track Movies on spameri.cz

I could just use IMDB or Letterboxd like everyone else. But I built spameri.cz as a side project β€” it's a movie and TV database powered by Elasticsearch. When you build the tool yourself, you actually use it. It's the same reason I write my own dev tools instead of using off-the-shelf ones. Plus I can search however I want, track what I want, and nobody's selling me ads.

The database pulls in upcoming releases automatically, so I get a feed of what's coming without having to check ten different sources. If you want to browse around, go ahead β€” the movies section is open to everyone.

What Are You Watching?

Drop a comment if you've got a 2026 movie you're hyped about. I'm always looking for recommendations that aren't just the latest Marvel thing. Well, okay β€” the Marvel thing too.
